Small Bunny likes to sit on his favorite blanket when he reads or paints. His blue blanket is with him whether he’s digging in the sandbox or playing at the park.
Small Bunny isn’t bothered by a little dirt or odor, but his mom thinks differently. “Time to come in,” she says, “You both need a bath.” Despite his protests, Small Bunny is sent to the bathtub and his blanket is put in the washing machine. After a long (one hundred and seven minutes!) separation, bunny and his blanket are reunited, but Small Bunny doesn’t feel happy until he makes his blue blanket “just the way it was before.”
Simple line drawings contain splashes of light pink and blue. The color of the text matches the blue in the blanket and appears against white backgrounds. Although Small Bunny lacks a mouth or whiskers, his ears convey his every emotion.
Toddlers and preschoolers who have needed to part with their own favorite possession for a period of time may find this story comforting.
