Grover is back, and this time he has developed an initial curiosity about a potty and wants to discover what his other friends know about its use.
In Potty Time! , he teaches readers about the stages of potty training by explaining where the younger version of each traditional Sesame Street character is in the process. For example, readers learn that Zoe is very advanced in the process and uses the potty every time she leaves her home, while so far, Baby Big Bird does not have any interest in it. Baby Ernie uses the potty from time to time, but often has accidents because he is distracted with other projects such as playing with his toys. This is quite the contrast from Baby Bert, who seems to be doing very well with his potty training - even remembering to wash his hands after each use.
Armed with this information, Grover seems confident enough to use the potty for the first time, and children will likely delight in his initial success along with the ability to move part of the page of the book to flush the toilet and flush away Grover’s first success. Potty Time! is a great initial learning tool for children, and the familiar characters will likely bring them comfort as they embark on the process for themselves.
