For a young child awaiting Halloween, this lift-the-flap board book offers all sort of spooky surprises. Flip a flap, and you'll discover an owl perched in a tree, a spider spinning its web, and a black bat hanging upside-down.
You'll also be invited to stir a cauldron to make a spell, open a cupboard to find some skeletons, and look inside a bag to see what kind of goodies were collected on a Trick-or-Treat outing.
Once read you've read it aloud a few times, your preschooler will have fun guessing what's behind the flap as you go over the book again and again. Here's a subtle way to work on memory skills during story time.
