Sam can hardly contain his excitement on the day his big brother Ben heads off to an adventure camp for an entire week. Specifically, he cannot wait to enjoy seven days free from his brother’s habitual behavior of teasing him, squirting him, ignoring him, scaring him, and engaging in all that other behavior he has to put up with a consistent basis. It is only after Ben actually leaves that Sam realizes that also missing
are his brother’s other habitual behaviors: playing with him, reading with him, lifting him up in the trees, and helping him clean up his room.
As the days goes by, Sam decides that the only thing more exciting than the day he sends his brother away for a week-long trip is the day he goes with his mother to welcome Ben home. I Very Really Miss You is a sweet story that illustrates the bond between brothers and the reality that you really do have to be careful what you wish for.
