Waking Up is Hard to Do (Book and Audio CD)
by Howard Greenfield and Neil Sedaka, illustrated by Daniel Miyares
Ages 3-8 26 pages with CD Imagine/Peter Yarrow Books September 2010 Hardcover

Getting up in the morning won’t be as big a chore with this picture book and its accompanying CD. Based on his hit pop tune “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do,” singer and songwriter Neil Sedaka changes the lyrics for this new tune that follows a little alligator as he copes with getting ready for a new day.
“You slept all night
now it’s morning time.
That’s the time to rise and shine.
Don’t you cry and don’t be blue.
Wakin’ up is hard to do.”
Once out of bed, the little gator is off to the bathroom to brush his teeth. He gets dressed, goes downstairs for breakfast, and finally grabs his book bag. Along with the other critters in the neighborhood, the gator heads for the bus stop. When the big yellow vehicle appears, it is off to another day at school.

Illustrated with Daniel Miyares’ vibrant, eye-catching art, this picture book also comes with a CD featuring Neil Sedaka singing his happy, catchy song and two others: “Lightnin’ Jim” and “Sing.”

Your child will not only enjoy the catchy text and lively illustrations in a happy, playful story that puts a positive slant on waking up; the CD is an added plus. Pop it in the CD player in the morning and let the whole family get a jump on the day with this re-worked pop song.
