Eight animals are presented in this new board book about getting dressed. They are not shown wearing clothes, but their natural appearance is compared to different types of clothing that keeps them covered and warm: “Sheep wears a fluffy jacket.” “Snake wears a snug stocking.”
The author compares the shape and patterns on a fish tail to a tie-dye skirt and penguin’s black-and-white feathers to a suit. Most of the clothing mentioned in the book are all clothes that children wear--pajamas and sweaters--but some items, such as a cardigan, may be new words for the young reader.
The illustrations encourage the reader to use their imagination, though, and to question why clothing is important--especially when they see a naked boy at the end of the story!
