On a beautiful spring day, Little Wolf notices a little leaf in a tree and wishes to eat it up. He asks his friend Big Wolf to climb up and get it for him, but Big Wolf suggests Little Wolf be patient and wait for it to fall.
Summer comes and Little Wolf is still eyeing the same leaf. Through all four seasons, the sought-after leaf remains affixed to the branch. Finally, in the dead of winter, Big Wolf decides, without any coaxing or harping from his friend, that he will climb after the leaf “just to see Little Wolf’s eyes sparkle.” But it is a slippery and snowy ascent. Is one tiny leaf worth so much trouble?
Big Wolf and Little Wolf: The Little Leaf That Wouldn't Fall is the second book by Nadine Brun-Cosme featuring these two loveably straightforward characters by the same name. The first, simply titled Little Wolf and Big Wolf, was well received and won numerous awards. This second installment does not disappoint, once again focusing on the simple joys in life.
The artwork by renowned illustrator Olivier Tallec captures the essence of each season while portraying the special bond between these friends. Although Big Wolf tends to resemble anything but a wolf, any animal that wears fuzzy yellow boots is endearing in his own right.
Destined to become a classic, Big Wolf and Little Wolf: The Little Leaf That Wouldn't Fall remind us all that the most wonderful riches are often right in front of us.
