“All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.”
Japanese-American artist Naoko Stoop illustrates the classic hymn in a charming new board book for young children. Each double-page spread shows two lines of text from the poem, accompanied by stunning illustrations of a doll-like little girl, a monkey pal, and a variety of friendly animals in natural settings.
This child-friendly book captures a deep love of all creation. Foxes, penguins, snails and moose are among the many creatures to make an appearance in the book, making this a perfect vehicle for teaching a young child the names of animals.
The anime-inspired illustrations are lush and visually appealing, reminding me of the classic children’s movie, My Neighbor Totoro, one of my all-time favorites. All Creatures Great and Small is highly recommended!
