It’s the photographs and rhymes that make the Busy Books memorable. African elephants are the focus of the fourteenth board book in the series. Sixteen color photographs answer the question presented at the beginning of the book: “Busy, busy elephants. What are they doing?”

Elephants are seen munching and bunching, splashing and dashing. When they are shown meeting and greeting, they are in pairs, but when they are stepping or stretching, they are alone. Close-ups capture details such as the fine hair on the elephants’ back and the speckles of dried mud that fall off their bodies.

The scenery changes with the turn of a page. Sometimes the elephants appear near water, other times they appear surrounded by dust. In one instance, a giraffe can be seen in the background.

The pairing of powerful verbs and beautiful photographs will make readers stare in wonder as the personalities of these animals are revealed on the pages of this book.
