Minnie: Case of the Missing Sparkle-izer (World of Reading, Levon Pre-1)
by Bill Scollon
Ages 3-5 32 pages Disney Press October 2013 Paperback

Help Minnie’s nieces, Millie and Melody, solve the case of the missing Sparkle-izer.

Minnie is offering a special deal at her “Bow-tique,” where she will use her new device to add sparkles to any bow purchased. The promotion is a big hit until the “sparkle-izer” goes missing. With the help of a few other characters, Millie and Melody discover who is responsible for the missing sparkle device.

This Level Pre-1 book uses picture reading, short sentences and word repetition to start your child on his or her adventure in reading. There’s good value with a longer story that is just over 30 pages and excellent illustrations. Also, so many of these readers have a very strong ink odor but, fortunately, the ink used here is of a better quality and doesn’t make the reader nauseous.
