*Chicken Little: A Read-Aloud Board Book* from Walt Disney, adapted by Mary Wilson

Chicken Little: A Read-Aloud Board Book
from Walt Disney, adapted by Mary Wilson
ages 4-8 24 pages Random House/Disney January 2006 Board book

The story of Chicken Little has stood the test of time and become a classic – and, thanks to Disney, even a movie popular with the small folk. In this read-aloud board book, Chicken Little is once again on the outs with friends and family for thinking the sky is falling. Even his dad is embarrassed by his son’s catastrophic claims.

But Chicken Little redeems himself when he tries to warn the town of an alien invasion, and it turns out that he is right this time. Only the invasion is not a sinister one, and Chicken Little ends up a hero with a new friend from a galaxy far, far away.

This is a cute pocket-sized board book younger children will like, whether or not they’ve seen the movie, with typically whimsical and imaginative artwork from Disney Storybook Artists. Its message will resonate with young and old alike: to always tell the truth and stand by that truth, even when others don’t believe you. In a society where lying and deception have become the order of the day, this is a great message to teach children, and a colorful and fun way to do it.
