Counting (Pull and Play)
by Ana Martin Larranaga
Ages 1-3 12 pages Pan Macmillan September 2013 Board book

This very simple board book features “pull and play” tabs that not only make turning the pages easier but, when pulled, display the answers to how many animals are featured on each page.

For example, the first page asks, “How many puppies?” Look at the opposite illustrations and then gently pull up the tab for the answer, which is “Two.”

You’ll find puppies, kittens and fish featured in this simple book but a surprise awaits you on the final page. There you’ll discover a round mirror so your child will see a reflection of him- or herself.

This little volume contains just a few pages, but for very young children it provides a nice introduction to picture books, animals, and counting up to five.
