Cupcakes: A Sweet Treat with More Than 200 Stickers
by Brandy Cooke and Connie Kramer
Ages 3+ 14 pages Little Simon September 2011 Board book

This board book features over 200 reusable stickers that can be used to decorate the full-page pictures of various cupcakes. The stickers allow for theme decorating like bugs, flowers, dinosaurs, fish, animals, and shapes like dots, hearts and stars.

This activity book may keep a child amused for a short time, but I doubt the stickers will stay where they belong (that is to say, in the book) for very long before they appear on walls, on paper, and in other books.

A large foldout section at the end of this volume features four additional cupcakes, so make sure your child saves some stickers for the grand finale. Also, since the stickers do pose a choking hazard, do not let a child who still places things in his or her mouth play with the book.

Therein lies a problem as well. An older child will not be very amused by this book, and a younger one shouldn’t be allowed to use it unless he or she is totally supervised.
