Hello Baby: A Photo Album of Baby's Delightful Moments

Hello Baby!: A Keepsake Journal for Baby's First Year by Eunice Moyle
64 pages Chronicle April 2006 Hardcover rated 4 1/2 out of 5 stars

If you are searching for a user friendly tool to chronicle the major events of your newborn’s first year of life, then Hello Baby!: A Keepsake Journal for Baby’s First Year may be exactly what you need. The book begins with a picture of a large plush tree that spans two pages, leaving blanks to fill in the names of the mother, father, grandparents and great-grandparents of the newborn. From there it provides the guidance needed to paint the perfect picture to savor what the world was like when your child first entered it.

You will find a place to enter information about the parents of the child as well as events leading up to the birth, such as when the news was discovered that a child was on its way and what mom craved as the pregnancy progressed. There are spaces to provide information about the world on the day the baby arrived, like the major headlines and what books were being read at the time.

Since you will likely be overwhelmed with the birth of your child, this book will serve as a gentle reminder to record what your baby wears on the way home and his or her favorite foods. You will find a place to record the date of baby’s first haircut (and a small envelope to store a strand) as well as a diagram to pinpoint which teeth were the first to emerge. You can also record the height, weight and most significant events of his or her first eleven months on the page corresponding to each, or you might prefer to track those changes on the growth chart neatly folded in the back of the book.

The book is mild and understated in its pastel coloring and the simple illustrations. Both enhance the look of the journal but do not detract from the book’s overall purpose of collecting and preserving critical information about your child’s first year.
