The Book of The Human Body: 50 Questions and All the Answers
by Ray Bryant
Ages 5-8 64 pages Kingfisher September 2012 Paperback

Children have all sorts of questions about their bodies. The fifty questions answered here cover most of the bases without getting into sexuality, which is probably a topic more appropriate for older children anyhow.

The questions cover a range of topics, such as:
  • “Why do I blink?”
  • “Why do I burp?”
  • “How do my arms and legs bend?”
  • “Why does my nose run?”
  • “Why do I sometimes get out of breath?”
You’ll also find “Did you know…” sidebars on each page that contain more information about each topic addressed. A 25-question “Quick-Quiz” at the back of the book can be used to see how much information your child retains.

An excellent book for both teachers as well as parents home-schooling their children, these questions can be used as a jumping-off spot for further study of the body and how it works. Ask your child to come up with some questions of his or her own after you have read the book together.
