Penguin Books 80 pages October 2015 Paperback

Basford’s hand-drawn illustrations in her Lost Ocean adult coloring book contain everything you can imagine under the sea and then some.

The fish come in all sizes. The octopi, sharks, jellyfish, turtles, and crabs swim with seahorses and starfish. On the ocean floor are treasure chests overflowing with jewels and a castle made of coral and shells. Frames and borders are elaborate and made up of twisting vines of seaweeds. There is a double-page spread of mermaids and schools of fish. At the back of the book, there is a four panel-long detachable panoramic scene that can be colored, and an answer key to where all the hidden objects are in the pictures.

This is an adult coloring book, but really, all ages could color in it because the drawings will appeal to children, teens, and adults. However, there are intricate patterns and designs on most of the pages that will require sharp pencil crayons or markers and a steady hand to complete.

The gold foiled lettering and pictures on the cover make this coloring book hard to resist. Fans of Basford’s other coloring books (Secret Garden, Enchanted Forest) will treasure this one, too.
