At the very least, first books introduce children to ideas - and, in this case, art - to which they might not otherwise be exposed. In Matisse: Dance for Joy, the author does a wonderful of job of providing a sampling of the art of Mattise in the form of a board book. In it, she presents a few classic pieces of his art with some text about basic movements (such as stretching and dancing) which offer a glimpse into the world of art that will hopefully follow.
