Dink, Josh and Ruth Rose are back again in this edition of “A to Z Mysteries.” As the friends gather for a special Thanksgiving holiday at the heart of it all in Plymouth, Massachusetts, they stumble across another mystery.

While aboard the Mayflower II, a life-size replica of the original, they learn about Emma Browne’s stolen necklace, believed to have been stolen by fellow passenger Lawrence Mudgett. An outcast, Mudgett disappeared shortly after the landing at Plymouth, leaving behind a crude, child-like drawing of the original Mayflower landing in Provincetown.

Convinced the drawing is a map of sorts, the kids hop aboard a ferry to scour the beaches at P-town on a quest to find the missing jewels. But is it possible for a treasure to remain hidden on a changing shoreline after four hundred years?

Author Ron Roy pens his usual best in Mayflower Treasure Hunt. Although the solution comes a little too easily, Roy adds just the right element of danger and intrigue to keep the story interesting. With his eye for detail, the streets and history of Plymouth come alive between the pages. This is definitely a historical mystery that middle-schoolers will be happy to gobble up.
