Here’s another excellent title from the Navigators series of books that introduces young readers to science. Eye-catching, two-page spreads that feature 3-D artwork and interesting facts cover a wide range of topics, from earthquakes, volcanoes, glaciers, and deserts to changing climate, rocks and minerals, and Planet Earth ’s blanket.
Short paragraphs in each section present information that is meant to whet the reader’s appetite and make him or her want to further explore the topic by checking other sources. You’ll find websites at the back of the book for further research and reading.
As a general introduction that opens up the many possibilities of natural science, Navigators: Planet Earth is an excellent book for making children aware of the many ways one can look at the earth and how it was formed.
