Todd Parr’s series of brilliantly simple children’s books adds possibly the best one yet. We Belong Together: A Book About Adoption and Families uses the same bold lines and brilliant, basic colors to say everything new parents would want to say to their adopted child. Essentially, this is what parents should say to every child: you needed love, and we have it to give.
Parr’s books are available in different sizes, and this one comes in a large, paper format. The colors pop off the page in a way board books do not offer. Parr’s message is effective because he makes it as simple as possible. In the end, all you need is love and someone to share it with.
Besides Parr’s twenty-nine books for children, he also earned an Emmy nomination for his animated television show Toddworld.
