In this nonfiction book, children will learn about the whale family.
Each two-page section includes information on habitats, migration, birthing, and conservation. Facts are presented in small paragraphs under headings or alongside color photographs. Details about the animals are labeled or appear in close-up views.
Backgrounds of blues and greens enhance the aquatic theme of the book, and children can follow the colored symbols to read more information about topics such as whale stories, environments and record breakers.
Questions pertaining to the animal’s body appear throughout the book. The answers, which are provided on the bottom of the page, can be read by turning the book upside down. Back material includes an index but no bibliography. This would be a useful resource for a school project.
