The seven animals in this board book are eating—noisily. The giant panda chomps on bamboo, the otter gnaws on a fish, and the caterpillar munches on leaves.
After identifying each animal (and, for fun, mimicking their eating sounds), children learn two facts about its body (one of which will be labeled on the closeup color photographs). The squirrel displays his bushy tail and pointy ears; the anteater shows off his long nose and thick fur.
Bright, solid greens, purples, yellows and blues appear as backgrounds behind the questions and answers that appear at the top of each page. (Who’s that pecking? / I am a chicken). For an interactive storytime, pair this book with, Who’s that…Playing? (Kingfisher, 2013).
