The three chickies are jealous of their new brother. He spends more time playing ball, singing songs, and dancing with their friends. “No more singing!” they shout. “Drop that beach ball!” “Stop that dancing!”
But Sheep, Cow and Pig won’t stop. Instead, they find a way to include everyone. Sheep says, “Don’t be worried. This is grand. Now we have a five-piece band.” He plays the guitar while the chicks play a tambourine, a bell, a shaker, and a drum (a pot and spoon). Cow turns a game of catch into a beachball game that needs a team, and Pig teaches all the chicks to conga.
“Life was perfect once again. Even better. Until when…” and the book ends with the chicks getting a new brother, then another and another. “Oh brother!” they exclaim.
This new story in the Chickies series (Bedtime for Chickies, Pottytime for Chickies, and Dinnertime for Chickies) will appeal to Sandra Boynton fans. The animals have big personalities, and they behave like children. The cover and backgrounds are colourful, and the writing is clear and concise.
For the best results, be sure to add voices for the different animals when reading this book aloud.
