Eric Carle Animal Flash Cards
by Eric Carle
Baby - age 3 26 pages Chronicle August 2006 Board/flashcards

Eric Carle, author and illustrator of several children’s book favorites such as Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do you See? and The Very Hungry Caterpillar, has created the very best in flash cards. Eric Carle Animal Flash Cards are sturdy 5x6-inch cards with one side featuring an upper and lowercase letter set on eye-catching patterns and the other side featuring a beautifully illustrated animal with the name written in lowercase below the picture. The twenty-six cards come in a sturdy box decorated with colorful animals on the top and an alphabet of upper and lowercase letters interspersed with animals flowing around the sides.

The bottom of the box emphasizes how well-suited the cards are for little hands and includes a suggestion for hanging the cards on the wall - a wonderful suggestion. These cards could decorate a room with either the alphabet in its varied patterns, or create a jungle of alphabetical animals. The collection of animals includes some classics such as an elephant, a lion, and a zebra, as well as some rare introductions such as a quetzal, a xolo, and a narwhal. And not to worry: the infamous caterpillar is also included.

A wonderful gift idea for any child, it is especially treasured for those little ones who are just learning the animal sounds and need that extra sturdiness for ease of handling and longevity. Imagine the fun of picking up the monkey card and hearing “eek, eek, eek” from your little one!
