Ages 1-3 26 pages Doubleday March 2016 Board book

Sun, wind, cool, snow, andrain are the weather concepts babies and toddlers will learn about in this latest board book in the Hello, World! series. The book encourages children to look out the window and match what they see to the pictures on the page.

As the boy and girl look out the same window, the double-page spreads show their dog enjoying the outdoors. He waters the garden in the sunny scene and plays in the leaf pile on the windy day. When the leaves are covered with frost, he chases the birds flying south. When it’s raining, he watches the ducks in the puddles.

After each double-page spread, the children are shown dressed in weather appropriate clothing. “Wear your sun hat, shorts, t-shirt, and sandals. Now you are ready to enjoy the sun!” At the end of the book, the children join the dog outside under a rainbow. The children are red-cheeked throughout the book no matter the weather, and they represent two different ethnicities.

The collage and watercolor-styled illustrations contain onomatopoeiac text (whoosh, tweet, and crunch) that add entertaining sounds to a read aloud.
