Maisy's Snowy Christmas Eve: A Holiday Board Book
by Lucy Cousins
Ages 3-5 30 pages Candlewick September 2009 Board book

It is Christmas Eve, and all Maisy's friends are invited over - but with the snow coming down hard, will they make it? While Cyril slips on his snowshoes to walk over, Charley and Tallulah decide to go by sled. Poor Eddie the Elephant doesn't make it, though, because he gets stuck in the snow.

When everyone realizes that Eddie hasn't arrived at the party, Maisy and her friends slip into their warm coats and go back out into the cold to find the missing pachyderm. They look in the shed, behind the bushes, and even in a snow bank, but no Eddie. Finally, someone notices a very big pile of snow with a gray trunk sticking out of it and a green cap on the top.

Stuck fast and frozen in the snow, Eddie is all but immovable until Maisy gets her red tractor to pull the elephant free. Then it's back to a warm fire and singing Christmas carols.

Always a favorite with preschoolers, Maisy's latest adventure is perfect for the holiday season. This would make the ideal pre-Christmas gift to be read in the days leading up to December 25th.
