Baby-PreK 12 pages Little Simon December 2009 Board book

The newest title in the "Baby" board book series by Karen Katz, this touch-and feel picture book features animals that a child can run his or her little fingers over.

On the cover of the book, Baby's straw hat is the first object you'll want to direct your child's attention to. Then, on the first page, you'll discover a cow with black spots that feel a little like soft sandpaper.

Next up is a tiny lamb with soft, white wool, followed by a horse with a short, stringy brown mane. Baby then collects a basket of white, smooth hen's eggs before bidding the animals good-bye in his blue denim jeans.

As you enjoy this simple board book with your child, take the opportunity to also work on some simple image recognition. Each animal's picture is also accompanied by the sound it makes. Why not make paging through the book into a game? Ask your youngster "What sound does a cow make?" or "Which animal says 'Moo! Moo!'".
