Ages 3-5 24 pages Beach Lane Books April 2011 Hardcover

Here’s a simple story for beginning readers. It’s a warm day, so Brownie finds her swimsuit while Pearl, her kitten, gets the beach ball. Then the two head out to the backyard where a little blue pool awaits them. It’s just the right size, and after putting on her sunglasses, Brownie hops in.

A little more cautious, Pearl just sticks her paw in first - but then she loses her balance and “Splash!” The little cat is very, very, very wet. As Brownie giggles, Pearl saunters over to the towel spread out on the grass. It is time to dry off and enjoy the warm rays of the sun.

Although this is perhaps not the most exciting story in the world, youngsters will like the illustrations of the two main characters. Also, the simple vocabulary and repetition make this an easy book for a young reader to master. It won’t be long before your child delights in reading this story to you.
